CHFD WATER RESCUE PROGRAM
Since CHFD fire district is mostly on the a peninsula situated on Lake Champlain, there is a big need for Water Rescue.   

Our fire department founded the first cold water/swift water rescue unit in Clinton County in 1990.
Today there are 7 swift/cold water rescue squads in Clinton County. 
Champlain, Keeseville, Lyon Mountain, Morrisonville, Rouse Point and Saranac.

INFLATABLE RESCUE BOAT - for easy transport, storage and handling.  This boat is vital to our rescue in conditions not conducive to larger craft or open water rescue.

March 6, 1998 - Lake Champlain was declared the 6th great lake in a bill signed by President Clinton.  It was rescinded 18 days later on March 24.
